Representing the tenth generation within the Portet family wine legacy, Olivier Portet brings a fresh and worldly perspective to Heritance. While growing up in Napa as the son of Winemaker Bernard Portet, he spent holidays and summer vacations visiting family in the great wine regions of Chile, France and Australia.
Visiting Château Lafite Rothschild with his father when he was 16 opened his eyes to the world of wine. However, it wasn’t until he had worked with vineyards and wines in Cognac, Bordeaux, Melbourne and Napa that he knew that the wine industry was the natural path to take.
Portet earned a degree in finance (with a dual minor in international business and French) at Santa Clara University before going on to earn an MBA at the Thunderbird, Graduate School of International Management. Trilingual in English, French and Spanish, Portet has worked at every level of the wine business ranging from harvest work to selling wine to the trade, to founding a boutique wine import, sales and marketing company and then ultimately rising to the role of Director of European Imports for Wilson Daniels managing a $20 million wine portfolio for more than five years.
Now with more than 15 years of professional wine industry experience, in addition to his wine heritage, Portet focuses on national sales and marketing, brand management and distributor management for Polaris Wines, LLC. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and young daughter.
